Where the alpine roses bloom

Current news

When the mountain slopes of the Montafon turn a rich pink and the sweet scent of roses fills the air, we know that summer has really arrived: Summer is really here! In June and July, hiking in the unique mountain world around our Fernblick is even more fun, because a good hiking mood is guaranteed in the pink sea of alpine roses.

Beautiful and useful at the same time

"Rhododendron ferrugineum" is the name of this delicate plant with its vibrant color. however, "rust-leaved" does not describe the pink petals, but the underside of the green leaves of the rose plant. These have the rust-red color that gives them their name. The pink roses are native to the entire Alpine region and are mainly found in sparse forests or open meadows above the tree line. The alpine rose is a true pioneer, as it takes root even in nutrient-poor soil and is therefore able to consolidate loose slope material or prepare the ground for more demanding plants.

Pink moments of happiness

In addition to their many benefits for the flora of the Montafon, alpine roses are above all beautiful to look at. The colorful blossoms, which are often called "Almrausch", are guaranteed to make your hiking heart beat faster. Because you can experience the impressive natural spectacle of the alpine rose blossom right next to the hiking trail.
