Montafon lore 4: A literal distant view

Active, Tips

It's easy to unwind when you look out over the wonderful mountain world of the Montafon from our distant view. But today we'll take a closer look and explain which peaks you can admire here at a glance.

Dream mountains from left to right

You can see three mountains from our distant view: Rätikon, Verwall and Silvretta are right on our doorstep. The Heimspitze and the Valiseraspitze, which can be seen on the far left of our photo, belong to the West Silvretta. At an altitude of 2,685 and 2,716 meters respectively, they offer a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding valleys. However, the ascents are not easy and are only recommended for experienced mountaineers.

You hike up to the Hora at 1,891 m through the traditional Maisäß landscape of the Montafon. The rustic huts, which used to serve as a stopover between the valley and the mountain pastures, create a picturesque hiking ambience. you need to plan 2.5 to 3 hours for a hike to the Hora Alpe. However, the climb is definitely worth it!

The pyramid-shaped peak a little further to the right is the large Seehorn. At 3,121 m, it is the 12th highest mountain in Vorarlberg. Due to its rocky, challenging terrain, the Seehorn is particularly popular with professional climbers.

To the right you can see the Weißplatte, which lies exactly on the border between Austria and Switzerland. 2.the mountain is 630 m high and is rarely climbed due to the difficult terrain with deep furrows.

The Tschaggunser Mittagsspitze rewards all climbers who complete the strenuous ascent with an impressive panoramic view. From the summit at 2,168 m, you can not only see the surrounding valleys, but also admire the other peaks up close. If you are put off by the difficult climb to the summit, you can also hike up to the Mittagsspitz saddle and enjoy the panoramic view from here.

The next three peaks belong to the Rätikon mountain range. The Sulzfluh (2,818 m), the Drei Türme (2,830 m) and the Drusenfluh (2,827 m) are also approximately the same height. The Three Towers are particularly impressive with their unique rock formation. The three peaks, whose vertical walls were formed by rockfalls, are a landmark of the Montafon and represent this beautiful valley like no other mountain.

The last peak on our map is the Gaisspitze at 2,779 m. You can cover the first part of the route here with the Golm cable car. You then hike along the high trail over the Golmer Joch, the Latschätzkopf and the Kreuzjoch to the Gaisspitze. Even though there are hardly any difficult sections here, hiking experience is required as you will need stamina to reach the summit.

If we have aroused your curiosity, you can conquer one of these peaks during your next Fernblick stay. But if you prefer to marvel at the impressive mountain world of the Montafon from below, our new Infinity Relax Pool and our Sky Pool Montafon are probably the perfect vantage points.
