When the mountain calls: tips for a safe mountain hike

Active, Tips

The safety harnesses are fastened, the helmet is firmly on your head - now you can start climbing. With safe via ferratas, this high alpine sport has become a trendy hobby. It's a good thing that there are 19 via ferratas in the Montafon waiting for you to discover them.

Variety is guaranteed

No two crags are the same in the Montafon. And the individual climbing routes couldn't be more different. How about the via ferrata in the Röbischlucht gorge, for example? Above the stream, the route winds its way through the gorge and is also suitable for beginners thanks to its simple footholds and short climbing time of around 45 minutes. The Montafon tourist office offers guided tours for many via ferratas. You can find more information here.

The highlights

The dam wall at Lake Silvretta is quite steep. But thanks to the 320 m long via ferrata, you can easily climb it and experience a very special feeling of height. Take a break on one of the "benches" attached to the wall and enjoy the unique view. The via ferrata in the Gauablick cave in the Rätikon mountains is a special experience of a different kind. At 350 m, you have to rely on your sense of touch in complete darkness.

The right difficulty for everyone

Around the three mountain ranges of Rätikon, Verwall and Silvretta, there are a wide variety of via ferratas for everyone from beginners to climbing pros. If you prefer to start small, one of the climbing gardens is the right place for you. There are short practice via ferratas here where you can train your surefootedness. The Tschagguns - Latschau climbing garden is located directly opposite Bartholomäberg. Here you can get fit for the higher terrain.

Meter-high garden

Children also love climbing. In the Golm forest rope park, you can take your first steps at lofty heights. Equipped with a helmet, harness and a detailed safety briefing, they set off on one of the 11 tours at a height of 16 meters. Swinging boards, wobbly ropes and adventurous obstacles have to be overcome and it often happens that the young climbers are more skillful than some of their parents. The bravest even dare to take the Flying Fox over the reservoir and fly 500 m above the water basin at a lofty height.

Relaxing after climbing

After such an exciting day on the rock face, you deserve a relaxing break in our Fernblick wellness oasis. Reward yourself with a wellness treatment for active athletes' legs. During the treatment, you will enjoy a combination of a peeling to prepare and stimulate the circulation in your muscles and a soothing massage. This loosens up your tired legs and prevents sore muscles.
