Three excursions for an active spring

Active, Current news, Our Hotel, Tips, Hiking

Hiking is a vacationer's delight! We present 3 excursion ideas that are perfect for adding a little exercise to your Fernblick stay. With their breathtaking views, enchanting features and incredible wildlife, these tours offer plenty of opportunities for lasting impressions during your vacation.

A short hike to the Gauenstein Monastery

For this beautiful hike, you have to walk down from the Hotel Fernblick to Schruns. Just before the Litzkapelle chapel in one of the last bends before you reach the valley, take the turn-off towards Gauenstein Monastery (approx. 730 m) and the settlement of Kaltenbrunnen. The beautiful monastery garden, which is looked after by the Sisters of St. Clare, can be visited in summer from Tuesday to Sunday between 09:00 and 12:00 and between 14:00 and 19:00. The convent chapel is also worth a visit.
For the way back, walk towards Schruns via the Landschrofen vantage point, which offers an excellent view of Tschagguns and the Schruns district of Gantschier. Via the Illweg and the Litzpromenade you come directly to the town center, from where we can take you by public bus from Schruns train station directly to the hotel.

Nature experiences in the Feldkirch wildlife park

Not in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, but less than 45 minutes away by car, is the Feldkirch Wildlife Park, where over 20 different animal species await you. Wolves, marmots, mountain hares, eagles and lynxes have their home here. Observing the animals in their natural environment is something very special for many visitors, so a second or third look is often necessary to spot the well-camouflaged animals in the forest. After all, the animals have plenty of space here, as the wildlife park covers over 10 hectares of forest and meadows. This gives you plenty of space to walk a long way through the unique park and experience completely new insights into the animal world of the Alpine region. The wildlife park is open all year round and can be visited free of charge.

Up to the Itonskopf

The Itonskopf is the local mountain of Bartholomäberg and is part of the Verwall mountain range. With its height of 2089 meters, it is one of the smaller mountains in the Montafon. However, its summit offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding villages and mountain ranges. The path leading to the summit is lined with many wildflowers and various plants, offering a breathtaking experience for those who take the time to admire them.
Directly from the hotel, you can hike towards the Rellseck viewpoint. From here, the trail leads over the Kristbergsattel and the Wannaköpfe directly towards the summit. The last, somewhat exposed section is secured with a steel cable, but hikers should still watch their steps carefully. After you have enjoyed the magnificent panoramic view, make your way back and hike past the picturesque Fritzensee lake before arriving back at the hotel. You should plan around five hours in total for this rewarding tour.
