Discover winter in Montafon

Current news, Tips, Active

The snow crunches under your wide snowshoes and your steady breathing conjures up little white clouds in the air. All around you, a white wonderland glitters, waiting to be discovered. At Fernblick Montafon, we love snowshoeing because this special winter activity brings you closer to nature than ever before.

Strap on your snowshoes and off you go

The advantage of snowshoeing is that you don't need much equipment to get started. Sturdy winter boots with a good tread are the best starting point. The snowshoes are attached to these. The wide frames distribute your weight over a larger area when walking, so you sink less into the snow. This allows you to make better progress and enjoy your surroundings to the fullest. In addition to snowshoes, you will need hiking poles with large baskets, suitable winter clothing, and sunglasses.

So close to winter

Snowshoeing brings you into close contact with nature. You can hike through snow-covered landscapes that you would never discover when skiing. However, there are a few things to keep in mind in these idyllic surroundings. Snowshoeing is not just a simple walk, but a real sport that requires a certain level of fitness. That's why you shouldn't go on a tour alone in case you need help in an emergency. If you are just starting out with snowshoeing, a guided tour is perfect. Your tour guide not only knows the most beautiful routes, but also makes sure that you don't accidentally cross sensitive forest animal protection zones.

A perfect day

At Fernblick, we have been enthusiastic snowshoe hikers for a long time. For us, a tour through the snow-covered Montafon is simply part of a "gentle winter." Our "Snowshoe Whispers" package even includes three guided snowshoe hikes with Klaudia and Andreas. Depending on the experience and number of participants, we offer more strenuous or easier tours. A regional snack and, of course, the equipment for the snowshoe tour are also included. And after such a unique tour on snow-covered Bartholomäberg, the best way to relax is in our new sauna house. There you can review the exciting day in the bubbling water of our Infinity Relax Pool.
