Klaudia's favorite winter hikes

Tips, Active

If you have ever stayed with us at Fernblick, you will know that our Klaudia knows the most beautiful tours through the Montafon. Whether summer or winter, mountain biking or snowshoeing, Klaudia has the best tips for your active vacation at Fernblick.

In winter, our region shows itself from one of its most beautiful sides, which you should definitely explore. Over 290 kilometers of winter hiking trails—well-groomed and some even illuminated—are waiting for you. To help you decide, Klaudia has revealed some of her favorite hikes:

Off to the Valleuer Kirchlein

Bartholomäberg is the sunny balcony of the Montafon. And this is exactly where you can enjoy wonderful hikes through the snow-covered winter landscape. Enjoy the unique view of the Vandanser Steinwand. The trail is not too steep, and after about 1.5 hours, you will reach the listed chapel. The Valleuer Kirchlein was built in 1752 – a historical gem of the region. In summer, you can discover a wide variety of orchids around the chapel, and now in winter, it is the snow-covered views that are sure to delight you.

Many routes through the Gauertal valley

The Gauertal valley is a side valley of the Montafon and offers some wonderful hikes that are perfect for winter. Starting from Latschau, you can enjoy many unique views here. Discover, for example, the traditional Maisäss settlement of Volspora. To complement the active highlights of your hiking day, you can also enjoy culinary highlights at the Berggasthof Grabs mountain inn.
If you are motivated for a long hike, follow the path through the Gauertal valley to the foot of the three towers. The striking rock formation is the landmark of the Montafon. On the way there, you will experience the snow-covered nature – a real winter wonderland. At the end of the valley, the Lindauer Hütte offers another cozy place to stop for refreshments.

The view from Rellseck on Bartholomäberg

The Rellseck viewpoint is famous for its unique view of Bludenz and the Walgau region. The hike to this spot has a few special features in store. The trail leads past Lake Fritzasee, and you can also admire the traditional Garsella mountain huts here. There are plenty of places to sit along the way, from where you can enjoy the view over the valley. The unique nature of the Montafon valley is particularly impressive on a winter hike like this.
