Between good & evil: The Krampuses are coming!

Tips

When a muffled ringing sounds in the distance and dark figures slowly approach with dragging steps and long willow routes, the blood freezes in the veins of young and old alike. Because then the time has come - the Krampuses are coming. With terrifying larvae (masks), smelly furs and impressive horns, they make even the odd adult feel queasy. The excitement is palpable, the adrenaline rushes through your veins and then they move on again and relief spreads all around - just gone well.

The tradition of the Krampus

The word Krampus comes from the word "Krampen", which means "claw" in Old High German and stands for something lifeless, dried up or withered. The Krampus is a monster-like figure that accompanies St. Nicholas and causes fear and terror. While St. Nicholas gives the good children plenty of presents, the Krampus frightens the less well-behaved children and is supposed to ensure that they do better next year.
