Off to the ice wall

Have you ever been ice climbing? Climbing frozen slopes with an ice axe and crampons – just the thought of it is an adventure in itself. However, at the newly built ice climbing garden on the Silvretta, you can try your hand at ice climbing for the first time in a safe environment under the supervision of professionals. The ice climbing garden rises up to 25 meters and is the first of its kind in Vorarlberg. Now in January, taster days are held every Thursday. Here, professionals show you how to use ice axes and crampons correctly and how to move safely on the wall. All you need is sturdy, crampon-compatible footwear.

Two runners and lots of fun

When was the last time you threw yourself into the curves on a sleek sled and enjoyed the wind in your hair? Been a while? Then you should definitely plan a speedy sledding trip during your winter vacation in Montafon, because this fast-paced fun isn't just for kids. Seven sledding trails of varying difficulty await you in Montafon. You can rent the right sled for you from many sports rental shops, and then the wild ride can begin.

Piste or open terrain, that is the question here

Of course, Montafon is also the ideal vacation spot for ski enthusiasts. With 79 lifts and 297 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes, you are guaranteed to find your new favorite run. But if you prefer to stay off the slopes, Montafon may even be your new dream destination. The Silvretta-Montafon ski area offers everything from varied terrain to picturesque deep-snow runs. There are designated routes for beginners and professionals alike. Every Monday, there is also a freeride safety check, where you can obtain vital information about nature, terrain, and safety, and practice avalanche search and rescue under supervision.

Those who love their skis but are not so keen on wild descents are best off going on ski tours in the picturesque nature of the Montafon. Here, as with snowshoes, you can reach idyllic locations and stimulate your circulation through constant movement.
